Falguni Shane Peacock’s Jio World Plaza Outpost Is The Newest Address For Modern Couture

The store is the fourth collaboration between the couturier duo and interior designer Gauri Khan.

Walking into Falguni Shane Peacock’s new store at Jio World Plaza, BKC, Mumbai, feels nothing like entering a retail space. In fact, it feels more like stepping into a carefully composed moment. One that asks you to slow down, look closely, and truly experience couture—not just as clothing, but as an atmosphere, a mood, and a way of being.

Known for their bold yet precise couture language, Falguni Shane Peacock have always believed that fashion should evoke emotion. Their newest store reflects this philosophy with quiet confidence. Designed in collaboration with Gauri Khan, the space is elegant and luxurious without being excessive. It’s a store that understands restraint just as well as it understands glamour.

Unlike a flagship that announces itself loudly, the Jio World Plaza boutique has its own personality. It borrows familiar design codes from other Falguni Shane Peacock stores—travertine, veneer, signature chandeliers—but reinterprets them in a softer, more intimate way. Wood takes centre stage here, adding warmth and texture, while glass doors echo the brand’s flagship aesthetic. The result is a thoughtful balance between Western modernity and Indian richness, between continuity and evolution.

The experience begins the moment you walk in. Instead of being greeted by mere racks of clothing, you’re welcomed by a sculptural pause—an FSP logo wall, white and blue porcelain vases with lilies placed on a brass table embossed with the FSP monogram. It’s deliberate. Across all Falguni Shane Peacock stores, the idea is to create an experience before revealing the garments, and this space follows that philosophy beautifully.

As you move deeper into the store, the layout unfolds in segments, encouraging discovery rather than instant consumption. Gowns appear first, followed by intricately stitched saris framed against limestone walls. Each section feels distinct yet connected, like chapters in a well-paced novel. Even though the store is compact, it never feels constrained. Instead, it invites you to explore slowly, revealing its details as you go.

One of the most personal touches is the inclusion of design sketches—displayed for the first time—alongside black-and-white images from the designers’ iconic shoot at the Taj Mahal. Suggested by Gauri Khan, these elements add a layer of intimacy, offering a glimpse into the creative process behind the couture. They remind you that before every finished garment, there is thought, drawing, and imagination.

Craftsmanship runs deep through space. The embroidered fabric panelling, wallpaper and tapestries have all been created in-house, with contributions from artists onboarded by the Peacock Foundation. The brand’s panther logo appears subtly, never overpowering, while custom-printed fabrics form backdrops behind the racks. Every surface tells a story, but none demand attention—they simply reward it.

Details matter here. From brass and wooden logos to a striking, life-size peacock urn crafted specifically for the store’s display, each element feels intentional. Even the mannequins, imported from France, are chosen to complement the silhouettes rather than distract attention from them. The colour palette—layers of brown accented with gold—grounds the space in the “classic” vibe. Brown, after all, is seasonless. It endures trends.

What sets this store apart is how it makes you feel. There’s a sense of understated opulence that lingers as you walk through—a feeling that you’re on the verge of experiencing something rather than just rushing through. In a world of fast fashion and faster retail, Falguni Shane Peacock’s Jio World Plaza store offers a rare pause. It’s a space to engage with it, to understand it, and to feel its beauty—quietly, deeply, and memorably.
