In an exclusive interface with The Peacock Magazine, heartthrob Tiger Shroff opens up on his incredible artistic journey, evolution and staying inspired…

Ever since he made his stellar acting debut in Heropanti (2014), supernova Tiger Shroff has become a synonym for power-packed action roles, gravity defying dance moves and a hypnotic screen presence. Be it Baaghi (2016), Student of the Year 2 (2019), War (2019), Munna Michael (2017) or Singham Again (2024), the actor has exemplified immense potential, promise and staying power. The very mention of his name brings to mind jaw-dropping stunts, stylised action sequences and a spellbinding onscreen persona. Of late, the hunk is in the news for his upcoming film Vajra, where he will be seen in a never-seen-before avatar. Shroff was most recently seen in Baaghi 4 (2025), as Ranveer “Ronny” Pratap Singh. In 2026, he will also be seen in Lag Jaa Gale, alongside Lakshya and Janhvi Kapoor. Clearly there are a lot of exciting projects in the pipeline, and the actor has his hands full.

Moreover, the silver screen scorcher is also a fitness icon who’s inspired a generation of gym enthusiasts. Inspired by Bruce Lee, he embarked on a fitness journey in his teens. He began training in martial arts from a young age and earned a black belt in Taekwondo. Later he went on to train in Kalarippayattu and Krav Maga.

His daily workout routine includes 45 minutes of cardio on the stepmill or treadmill, followed by skill work, either kickboxing or dancing. In the afternoon, the actor usually rests before getting into strength training, with resistance-heavy weight workouts that target specific body parts.

For his night workout routine, he likes to indulge in outdoor sports, including football, cricket, and basketball. The workaholic does not like to take time off but ensures he gets seven to eight hours of sleep.

During this cover shoot for The Peacock Magazine, Tiger comes across as cool, calm and collected. Armed with a Greek God physique and an effortless personal style, he’s a delight to style and shoot. Give him just about any outfit under the sun and he’s likely to knock it out of the ballpark. Be it a bomber jacket or an evening suit—everything looks suave and sophisticated on his painstakingly chiselled physique. Or is that an understatement. Not surprisingly, the shoot feels like a breeze and the result is nothing short of phenomenal. Besides his obvious ease with the camera, what stands out about him is his humility and an overall, level-headed approach. “Everyone has days when they feel tired or overwhelmed. But I’ve never lost my love for performing. The moment I hear “action,” something switches on inside me. I feel grateful. This profession has given me so much, and that gratitude keeps me going,” he shares.

Given his vast and impressive body of work, it’s easy to deduce that the actor is all about thorough preparation and rigorous training which perhaps keeps him ahead of the curve. “Preparation starts the moment I hear a story. Sometimes it’s physical training, choreography, building stamina—and sometimes it’s internal, understanding where the character is coming from emotionally. I don’t believe in rushing that process. For action-heavy roles, I begin conditioning months in advance because I want my body to move instinctively on set. But equally important is mental preparation—reading, listening, observing people, and slowly absorbing the character’s rhythm. By the time the camera rolls, I want to feel like the character lives inside me naturally, not something I’m forcing,” says he with a twinkle in his eye.

One couldn’t help but ask him if he likes to immerse himself in characters as often it can be damaging emotionally. “I completely understand that perspective. Acting requires vulnerability, but you also need boundaries. Early in my career, I would carry scenes home with me. Over time, I’ve learned the importance of switching off. Fitness helps me reset. Music helps. Spending time with family grounds me. I respect every character I play, but I’ve learned that protecting your mental space is just as important as delivering a powerful performance,” he beams.

When asked how he approaches deep and multi-layered emotions like death and grief, he thoughtfully answers, “Especially then. Those are heavy emotions, and you can’t approach them casually. I try to access those feelings honestly during the scene, but afterwards I consciously step away. I remind myself that I’m telling someone else’s story. You owe it to the role to feel deeply, but you also owe it to yourself to come back whole.”

Discipline has always been an integral part of the actor’s life. Training isn’t something he does for films — it’s who he is. “Physically, I prepare myself consistently so my body is always ready. Emotionally, my motivation comes from wanting to give audiences something real. Action isn’t just about punches and flips; it’s about commitment. When I see people in theatres cheering or kids trying to copy a move, that fuels me. That’s my energy source,” he shares.

With each film, Tiger’s performances have grown from strength to strength, and a remarkable evolution is evident. In a short span of time, he’s proved his mettle as a consistent actor. “You become more aware of your limits and strengths. Earlier, I would push nonstop. Now I understand recovery, pacing, and balance. Experience teaches you how to listen to your body and mind. You learn that consistency beats intensity in the long run,” he says.

Having carved a distinctive niche in the highly competitive film industry, collaborated with some of the greatest minds in cinema, the actor’s journey has been one of shared values and creative osmosis. “I believe cinema is a collaborative art. I come prepared, I share ideas, but once we’re on set, I trust my director completely. Their vision guides the project. My job is to bring honesty and energy to that vision. When there’s mutual trust, the work becomes effortless,” he quips.

Almost every project he undertakes pushes him in some way. “Sometimes it’s emotionally demanding, sometimes physically extreme, sometimes creatively unfamiliar. I look for that discomfort because it means growth. Comfort zones are dangerous for artistes,” he notes.

Looking back, his parents—Jackie and Ayesha Shroff have had the biggest influence on his creative journey. As he acknowledges,“My parents, without a doubt. Watching their work ethic taught me discipline early on. Beyond that, every director, co-actor, technician, and crew member has shaped me. I learn something from every set. I also draw inspiration from sports—the dedication, the resilience, the way athletes show up every day regardless of results.”

Having worked with several co-stars and fellow actors, Tiger has always been pushed to deliver better. “They push you to be better. Acting is reactive — you feed off each other’s energy. A strong performance opposite you automatically raises your own level. That shared exchange is what makes scenes come alive. Healthy competition and mutual respect create magic on screen.”

Moreover, there are exciting films ahead, including action projects. “Music is also something very close to my heart — it allows me to express myself differently and connect with people beyond cinema. Beyond that, I’m deeply involved in fitness, sports initiatives, and my grooming brand PROWL, which reflects my belief in discipline and self-care.”

One project that’s especially close to Tiger’s heart is Project Mahadeva, where he’s proud to serve as the ambassador. “It’s a grass-roots football initiative aimed at identifying young talent across Maharashtra and giving underprivileged kids structured training, mentorship, and access to professional-level facilities. The goal is simple but powerful—to nurture the next generation of athletes and create real opportunities through sport. I strongly believe that sports teach resilience, focus, and confidence, and being part of something that can positively shape young lives feels incredibly meaningful,” he shares.

Overall, he’s trying to build a life that balances creativity, entrepreneurship, and purpose—staying active in spaces that inspire growth, be it films, music, fitness, or giving back to the youth. A well-rounded personality that reconciles stardom with a sense of purpose. Since his foray into the film world, the actor consciously endeavoured to craft an identity very early given the intense competition. From excelling in the action genre to enchanting audiences with his groovy dance moves, Tiger Shroff has come a long way. The actor turned 36 on March 2026 and at this fairly young age, he’s managed to accomplish what so many colleagues only dream of. More power to him.
