Michelle Poonawalla’s art delves into the inner psyche of our being, sans all the ‘noise’. The Pune based artist has a graduate degree in interior design and a Bachelor’s degree from American College. Michelle grew up in London, and exposure to both Indian and British culture ensured her interest in art from an early age, with an added encouragement from her grandfather, the late Jehangir Vazifdar, who was a prominent architect and had passed down his proprietary technique of oil painting to Michelle. Her work has an ever-present element of human interaction to it, with technology giving it the necessary perk. From her first stint in the art school at the Gateway School, Mumbai in 2016 to her latest project exhibition at START Art Fair, London, in September 2019, Michelle’s constant source of inspiration has been her surroundings and how humans interact with it.
