MAKE SOME NOISE FOR BYREDO’S ‘MUMBAI NOISE’

Perfumer Ben Gorham’s redolent venture ‘Byredo’ has made enough noise for teasing the olfactory senses and how! The European luxury brand founded in Stockholm in 2006 encapsulates Gorham’s connection with India and his Mumbai roots via its latest – Mumbai Noise. The fragrance is an ode to the city of Mumbai — his maternal home and a rich, aromatic tribute to the sensorial multitudes and multifaceted modernity of Mumbai, harboured in Gorham’s memories of its past. The mesmerising scents of Chembur’s streets — the smoky haze of incense interspersed with streetside coffee carts and cacophonous soundscapes — is explored through a contemporary lens.

The nostalgic emotion lingers on the perfume as it opens with the top notes of the plummy Davana. The middle notes of sweet Tonka beans and coffee give a whiff of freshness and crispness before settling and rounding off to the rich base notes of labdanum, sandalwood and agarwood. The aromatic luxury is packaged in the signature minimalist bottle of Byredo.
