Falguni and Shane Peacock’s welcome dinner was a sparkly affair at Sona, the on-theme, trendy hotspot headed by entrepreneur Maneesh Goyal and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Guests gathered at Mimi’s, a secluded private dining space (named after PCJ’s nickname) where Goyal and co-hosts Alvina Patel Buxani (Vice President of Brand Marketing and Commercial, Farfetch) and Anjula Acharia (CEO, A-Series Investments & Management) raised a toast for the Peacocks.
“A New York store could be in the cards soon,” enticed Falguni in a signature sheer embellished party dress with feather trim, adding “we definitely want to expand our couture and ready-to-wear lines here”. Although this won’t be the couple’s first foray in the Big Apple (they showcased several seasons at NYFW from 2011 to 2015) their focus over the last few years has been India-centric. “We just launched a store in Hyderabad and are looking at Kolkata next, but I love the energy of New York – it reminds me of Mumbai.”
Over a table scape of roses, orchids and palm leaves (to match the tropical crockery by William Edwards) Goyal pointed out a striking custom silk table runner designed by the couple for the occasion. “I opened Sona a year ago as my gift to New York,” admitted the restauranter. “To showcase India and Indian food in an entirely new way that no one has seen before. Tonight, I wanted to bring together the best of New York with guests from fashion, media and talent.”
