The Peacock Magazine July 25 Vidya Balan Issue 10

JULY 2025 | EDITORS NOTE

This issue is particularly special to us. It brings together some of the most inspiring creatives—people whose work we’ve admired from afar and up close. We wanted this edition to feel personal, almost like a mood board of the people and moments that have left a mark on us.

It begins with the incredible Vidya Balan on our cover—an actor who has carved her own path with fearlessness and grace. She brings a kind of honesty and strength that’s rare, both in front of the camera and beyond it. And when someone’s personal and professional philosophy mirrors yours, the association just clicks. This shoot was exactly that—fun and full of heart!

We also turn the spotlight on a few of our favourite creators. Rohan Shrestha, the celebrated lensman, lets us in on life behind the camera and the magic that happens away from the spotlight. Mehak Oberoi, the brilliant make-up artist, shares what it takes to craft iconic glam for the screen. And finally, the dynamic duo at Who Wore What When decoding the power of styling—both on duty and off—with their sharp, fashion-forward lens. We also had the pleasure of speaking with Yogesh Chaudhary, who tells us how innovation, tradition, and purpose are coming together to shape the future of Jaipur Rugs—one knot at a time.

Adding more layers to the issue are some deeply thoughtful features. Beauty editor Anjan Sachar curates a list of 20 couture fragrances that are worth every spritz. Tech writer Kaviya Sneha opens the door to boundary-pushing innovations in Beyond the Binary, where future-thinking meets design. Fashion editor Manish Mishra revisits nine chicest TV shows that defined fashion.

This issue also features a rich sartorial narrative built around the velvet kurta edit—shot against the opulent backdrop of Taj Falaknuma Palace and every bit as dreamy as it sounds. ‘Midnight in Paris’ brings with it a moment of fashion fantasy—where avant-garde couture lit up the City of Lights, shot under the inky sky and wrapped in the city’s quiet, poetic charm. Adding to the visual feast are style pages and mood boards tailored for every aesthetic occasion. For those seeking more from the fashion world, there’s also a glimpse into the recently concluded Lakmé Fashion Week—celebrating 25 years of redefining Indian fashion—that promises to satisfy your sartorial appetite.

This issue is a celebration of expression and artistry in all forms and we’re so thrilled to share it with you. We hope you enjoy reading it!

Cheers,

Falguni Shane Peacock
